In fact I believe this cute huge spider have been hanging right on top of the male toilet entrance for as along as one month.

It has a total length of about 5cm, seldom move but remain at the centre of the web most of the time. This type of spider is very rare indoor, I guess it is a small cross spider.

Take note of the black spot on top of the white piping.

I am pretty sure I am not the only one who have noticed it. But surprisingly, after so many weeks, the spider is not removed or killed. It is even living pretty well up there, growing bigger now and then.

My hostel is right beside a forested area, it’s common to see lizards, squirrels, and sometimes wild boar, light-vented bulbul and snakes. Few years ago there were few monkies around too.

So it’s not hard to imagine the insects that would be attracted to the living area by lights at night. These, provided a very reliable food source for predator-insects and lizard.

I like to have some lizards staying in my room too. I never invited them, but as long as they don’t dirty my place too much, I am fine sharing the room with them. Because their existance means a reduction and maybe elimination of insects in my room.

Maybe that’s how the nature life circle works with the influence of human. We have been affecting how other species live for thousands of years. By natural selection alone this is a very short term, but thank to the intellegence of human, the impact is tremendous.

I shall leave it to you guys to imagine what if the spider was found at the same location, in a ladies’ room.
