My first lesson for today is at 11:30 for MP3001 - Dynamics & Control. There is supposed to be a 3-hour tutorial for MP3011 - Engineering Design at 9:30, but I found out last night that tutorial only starts from the second week onwards.

I was late for school today. Yah, school starts at 11:30 and I can be late. I got up at 11:20, thanks to my own preparation of school bag the day before, I left room at 11:25 and reached LT1 at 11:40. The Lecture Theatre was so full, it took me some time to find a seat. I should go early the next time, so I can get to seat in the first two rows. In fact the first two rows were empty today, but I felt bad walking all the way to the front of the LT while the others are all paying attention to the professor.

Dynamics & Control sounds like an interesting subject, although it’s not gonna be easy as it is the only 4AU subject for this semester, the rest are all 3AU subjects. I went in late so missed out the part about textbook. I want to know the necessity of having a textbook for this subject. And will go and get one if it’s really needed, 2nd hand perhaps.

Met Jin Dong after the MP3001 lecture. He already checked his lab group and gotten his lab manuals. I went to N3.1 to take my manuals, then ate at Canteen A with Gerald.

I got the same lab projects as Jin Dong, 3.18 and 3.12. Because both our names starts with Z and are at the ends of the name lists of our tutorial groups. I was so careless to had assumed that doing the same projects means having the same schedules as well. So without refering to my own lab schedule, I went to the venue for project 3.12 at 13:30. And of course later I realised that it’s a mistake and took some time to figure out the correct lab experiment I should be doing today and the correct lab location.

Today’s experiment is E3.6 - Refrigeration Cycle. It’s very closely related to MP2003 Thermodynamics, the hardest subject for the 2nd year of my course, and also the only subject I have gotten an A+ so far. I might did well for the exam, but after one holiday, all the knowledge starts to play hidh and seek in my brain. It really took a while before we can memorize what was thought about this subject before, and later try to apply it.

Surprisingly I was one of the two leading the discussion in the group of 6 students. I mean, there’s always some people to lead the discussion, but it’s never me for years. I have been the one listening to others to discuss and copying their answers for quite some time. Maybe it’s my turn now?

I was the one finding formulas for calculations (although I forgot to bring my calculator), giving out answers for the discussion part, asking questions to the professor for the group. And I was the only one who plot the graph for the whole group. Some group members were not patient and left early before they finished writing their discussions properly. I don’t understand what were they rushing for. Aren’t they here for studying?

I finished the report and submitted at 17:20. First time spending 4 hours to finish a 3-hour lab session. But I feel good to have learnt something and recalled knowledge of the previous semester. The current subjects will more and more link to the previous subjects we have learnt and revising the old subjects are indeed necessary. I also feel good because my answer is now used as an reference.

Supposed to have bought dinner and go back to hostel straight away after that. But I realised that I still haven’t bought notes for MP3001. There was no stoke while I visited the printing shop last Friday, so last night I only printed lecture slides for today’s lecture.

I purchased the notes and checked my subject registration process for this semester. Realised that I did not manage to get any General Elective, and only one Priscribed Elective. Hence I stayed in the library for another hour trying to find tuitable electives for this semester. I want to register a total of 24 AUs so not to push the loads to the next 2 semesters. Finally I managed to find another suitable subject. It’s so hard for me to register subjects. First of all most of the electives have no more vacancy. Secondly my lectures and labs have weird timing and clashes with quite some available subjects.

So my finalized elective sujects are MP8082 - Systems for Everyone and EE8085 - Electricity for Modern Society.

Today is fun, and not very tiring, yet.
